This painting was an idea back before Alice was born. It's a compilation of some black and white photographs that my dad took while in the Peace Corps in Ethiopia. I loved the door that he photographed, and found a shepherd to place in front of it. In the shepherd's hand is a key, which is the 3D element of the painting. It is an actual key tied on to the painting through a small hole, using a piece of leather that my dad had tied to his own keys. I like the idea of the icon carved on to the door, the shepherd with a key to that door, the wonder of what tribe this person belongs to, the gathering of tribes, and the thoughts those things can lead to.

Very nice. I like it with the colored frame. Tell us about the source of your inspiration.
